Pro-Russian protesters retain control of Donetsk buildings

Pro-Russian protesters in Ukraine’s eastern city of Donetsk retained control of several administrative buildings on Sunday.

A small group of pro-Russian protesters remained in front of the administration building secured by barricade of tyres and barbed wire.

A few hundred meters from the administration building
people on the street had different opinions of the way out of the crisis.

Larysa Zayets, a pro-Russian protester said: “I stand here for my grandchildren and my children, because what’s happening is fascism.”

Donetsk resident Olha said: “We want peace on Donetsk land. We are protesting against fascism and against double standards.”

Government buildings in several other towns in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions were attacked.

Washington said the moves were reminiscent of events leading up to Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula.
