UN approves Sri Lanka war crimes inquiry

The UN has launched an investigation into allegations of war crimes during the final stages of Sri Lanka's civil war.
Both Government forces and Tamil fighters are accused of human rights violations in the battles that saw the defeat of the Tamil Tigers in 2009.
Sri Lanka has condemned the decision.
