Taiwan protest takes violent turn

Hundreds of people were injured in Taiwan when protesters forced their way into the central government building.

The demonstration against a trade deal with China had been peaceful for days, but late on Sunday, a number of protesters stormed past riot police and took over the main chamber of parliament.

As many as 50 people have been detained by the police.

Al Jazeera's Caroline Malone reports.
