Why Haven't Lost Malaysian Flight Passengers Made Any Cell Phone Calls

Among many mysteries surrounding Malaysia Airlines flight 370, there is no evidence of the passengers making a single phone call or documenting the experience using social media.
Malaysia Airlines flight 370 reportedly diverted from its course, and repeatedly changed altitude before disappearing, which has caused a stir among relatives of the passengers and government officials.
Now reports are saying that there is no evidence of the passengers making a single phone call or documenting the experience using social media.
This is particularly unusual because most of the passengers were from China and Malaysia where cell phone use is common among the affluent who would be traveling internationally.
The plane may have been flying out of range from cell phone reception, which would’ve prevented passengers from making a phone call.
One report says the plane reached 45 thousand feet at one point, which is above the 43 thousand one hundred foot certified maximum altitude for a Boeing 777-200 model airplane.
Nan Jinyan, a woman from Shanghai whose brother-in-law was aboard the flight said: “Some of the information released by the Malaysian government and airline turns out to be true, some turns out to be false. I believe they are still deciding which information to release and which isn't convenient to release right now.”
Investigations are ongoing to find out what happened, but so far no calls have been answered from the cell phones of passengers onboard the flight.
