Alleged Car Thief Passes Out in Stolen Car

Police were sent to a convenience store following a report which came in regarding a person who was passed out behind the wheel of a running Chevrolet Trailblazer. The sleepy driver, 31-year-old Aaron C. Whitehill, was arrested and police later found out the car he had been snoozing in was stolen.

One would expect criminals to be fully alert after committing a crime.

However one alleged car thief in Omaha, Nebraska couldn’t stay awake long enough to fully enjoy the newly stolen vehicle . Police were sent to the scene following a report which came in regarding a person who was passed out behind the wheel of a running Chevrolet Trailblazer. The sleepy driver, who was later identified as 31-year-old Aaron C. Whitehill, had been stopped outside the convenience store known as Bucky’s.According to a police spokesperson, when responders attempted to jostle Whitehill,

he immediately woke up and slammed on the gas. The vehicle lunged forward and smashed into merchandise that was for sale in front of the store.

Whitehill was taken to Nebraska Medical center following the crash. Following his discharge, police arrested and transported him to Douglas County Correctional Center.He is now facing charges of suspicion of theft along with failure to appear in court for charges regarding another, unrelated case.

Law enforcement authorities later determined the vehicle Whitehill was driving had been stolen from La Vista.
