Jackie Chan cements his place in Hollywood

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

STORY: Action film star Jackie Chan sank his hands and feet into wet cement in front of Hollywood's Chinese Theatre on Thursday (June 06).

Chan has starred in more than 100 films and directed 20, including "Rumble in the Bronx,'" the "Rush Hour'' and "Shanghai" films and the 2010 remake of "The Karate Kid.''

Chan was joined by his "Rush Hour" buddy Chris Tucker and "Karate" pupil Jaden Smith.

For Chan, the ritual was a bit of a re-do. The cement block containing Chan's original imprint of hands and feet in the theatre's forecourt was stolen at some point so Thursday's ceremony accorded him a rare honor. "Actually I think I'm the first one, to do the second time handprint. Because 12 years ago I did the handprint but somebody stole it. And that's the second time. I really, really want to thank you." Chan's memory of the original ceremony may be a bit hazy - it actually took place in 1997, 16 years ago.
