Low Calorie Diets - Am I Getting Enough Nutrients? - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. A lot of people ask me how to get enough nutrients when their on a low calorie diet and what I tell them is, do not be on a low calorie diet. You do not want to be on, so low calories that your body starts to thinks it is starving. This will defeat your whole purpose of being on a diet. Your body will not loose weight, will not give up the fat if the calories are too low. So, if you want to loose weight, cut your calories a little bit, but make sure you are getting enough calories so you are body does not think that it is starving. While you are on you are diet one thing you can do to get enough nutrients in you is to eat a variety of foods. Do not eat the same foods every day. Rotate what you are eating. If you are having kale one day make sure you have asparagus the next day. If you are having chicken one day make sure you are having some fish the next day. That way, when you have something different or not exactly the same every day you are at least going to at least get a whole range of nutrients that is going to make your body healthier and make it easier for you to loose weight. Another thing you can do to make sure you are getting enough nutrients is to write down what you are eating and this way you can track what you are doing. And you can take a look and realize, oh my God, I had chicken for the last five nights, with rice and nothing else. So, you know you are not getting a whole range of nutrients that way. So, make sure you write it down and keep track of it. And it is very easy to do that. There are online food dairies that you can find. If you have a smartphone there are a lot of apps. So, it almost, it makes it a no brainer to track what you are doing. And these programs will, also, tell you what nutrients you are getting. So I highly recommend either a food diary, an online food diary, or an app food diary for your smartphone. So, to sum it up, really avoid low calorie diets. Get a variety of foods in your diet so that you get all the nutrients that you need, and track it so that you can actually see what your getting. It is really very informative and helpful.
