Imam Ali was martyred on the 21st of Ramadan in the year 661 CE. He was attacked during the morning prayer in the Great Mosque of Kufa, Iraq, by Abd-al-Rahman ibn Muljam, who struck him with a poisoned sword. Imam Ali succumbed to his injuries and passed away a few days later.
On the 21st of Ramadan, the anniversary of Imam Ali's martyrdom, his family, particularly his sons Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn, and other members of the household, would have experienced deep grief and sorrow on the day of Eid. Imam Ali's martyrdom was a profound loss for his family, and it had a lasting impact on their lives.
The Ramadan is a time when the family and followers of Imam Ali, particularly Shia Muslims, gather to mourn his martyrdom and remember his sacrifices. They express their grief through various acts of remembrance
