Wales headlines 22 March: Major train line closed until 2024

A main train line will close until 2024 for repairs, according to Transport for Wales, and will instead use a replacement bus service. The line between Pontypridd and Treherbert will close in April and wont reopen until the start of next year, and residents will receive 50 percent off fares on affected by the disruption.

A conservative councillor in Newport has said parking charges in parks in the city should be scrapped to encourage people to get out and about. Councillor Matthew Evans says that going to the park should be encouraged and not penalised and says the money made from parking machines does not justify charging.

A Tesco store in Swansea made a bit of a mix up recently as they mistranslated the word for squash, the drink as ‘sboncen’ - squash the sport. A number of shoppers noticed the error, and Tesco have since apologised, and said the sign has been removed and will be rectified.
