In this video I'm going to share the top deviated septum symptoms and ideas on treating it. I want you to do something right now.

Breathe out of one your nostrils and then do the same to the other nostril. Can you breathe easier out of one nostril more so than the other? If so, you probably have a deviated septum.

The nasal septum is a thin wall that divides the left and right side of the nose. With this condition it becomes displaced or moved to one side. Usually this happens during birth, but another possible cause would be an injury such as getting hit in the face.

As you can probably guess the best way to identify if you have this problem is to see if your breathing is better with one nostril.

If so ask yourself do you have recurrent sinus infections? How about if you feel nasal congestion on one side or another? Other possible indicators would be frequent nosebleeds and perhaps some annoying sounds when you’re sleeping. This would be loud snoring or even sleep apnea.

In case you don't know sleep apnea is a serious condition where someone stops and starts breathing during sleep.

Lastly if you use a neti pot to clean congestion and one side is more plugged up that could also mean you have this problem. Speaking of neti pots they can be very helpful. A long time ago the kind of stuff that entered a person’s nose was probably much less harmful than the stuff many of us breathe today.

Sometimes this harmful stuff can get trapped in the back of the nose and as you can probably guess this isn't good. So how do you remove this unwanted material?

You could simply wash it out with water, just like you wash away dirt from your body. Just make sure it's good water and not contaminated because that would defeat the purpose right?

Another idea would be nasal strips that can open up the passageway. The last remedy which is my favorite would be eating very spicy food or horseradish. Doing this will clean out your sinuses and could make you breathe easier.
