The death rate in the U.S. has, for the most part, experienced a steady decline; however, in 2015, the number took an upward turn.

Over the past few decades, the death rate in the U.S has, for the most part, experienced a steady decline, reports the Washington Post. 
However, in 2015, the number took an upward turn to 729.5 deaths per 100,000 people. 
Just a year prior, it was 723.2, notes Business Insider.
